The Following is from the Apex Downtown Business Association website: Our Annual "Christmas on Salem Street" events begin at 5:00 PM on Friday November 30th with Christmas Carols at the Depot, followed by the Lighting of the Apex Christmas Tree. Then Santa & Mrs. Claus arrive on one of the Horse Drawn Carriages at the front of the Fire Station between 5:45 and 6:00 PM. There will be 2 Horse Drawn Carriages (Sleighs) for rides on Salem St in the Downtown Apex from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. The cost is $7.00 per person (children 2 & under ride free). Tickets will go on sale starting at 4:00 PM Friday under a TENT at the corner of N. Salem St. and Saunders St. (across from the Downtown Fire House). Tickets are sold on a first come first serve basis, but approximate time appointments will be chosen & assigned to your purchased tickets, per available time slots at the time of your purchase. There are limited amount of tickets available, based on the 3 hour time of the carriage rides. The tickets tend to sell out fast, so come early to get into the purchasing line. The Carriage rides are loading, start and return to drop you off in the Depot (Chamber of Commerce) parking lot. No tickets are sold at that location (see above). Arrive there close to and prior to the time assigned on your ticket. People will be boarded on the rides according to that assigned time and please remember those times are only approximate due to unknown exactness of the speed of the horses. After Santa & Mrs. Claus arrive at 6:00 PM, they walk around Downtown Apex to talk and mingle with the children. They do not ride on the Carriage rides. Because of the Carriage Rides selling out fast, this year we have added a new attraction. We have a "Kiddy Christmas Train Ride" which also runs from 6:00 to 9:00 PM and the ride loads, starts and returns to drop you off at the corner of N. Salem St. and Saunders St. (across from the Downtown Fire House). The cost is $4.00 per person (children 2 & under ride free). Those tickets go on sale at 5:30 PM Friday, following the same system as above under the same tent at that corner of N. Salem St and Saunders St. Please note that for both the Carriage and Kiddy Train rides, children 12 & under must be accompanied by at least one adult. We also are having "Make Your Own Ornament" in the area at the front of the Train Depot (Chamber of Commerce Building). P.S. Don't forget about the Saturday December 1st Activities: Apex Rotary Pancake Breakfast, 7-11 AM at the Apex Downtown Fire House – Pictures with Santa, 9AM - 2PM, also at the Apex Downtown Fire House – and the Grand Christmas Parade starts down Salem Street at 5:00 PM. And on Sunday December 2nd there is the Annual Apex Historical Holiday Home Tour. This occurs from 1:00 to 5:00 PM and cost is $10.00 per person. Tickets can be purchased anytime in advance at the Chamber of Commerce or the Rusty Bucket. Pictures with Santa at the Downtown Apex Fire House will be on Saturday Dec. 1st from 9:00 AM to 2:00PM. Tickets will be available starting at 8:30 AM. These tickets will be for one of the hourly time slots to help give you time to roam downtown and have a closer approximate time when to be in the actual picture line. It does help keep the line waiting time shorter. The cost for the "Pictures with Santa" is $20.00 for a CD of about 12 to 15 pictures. Children are also able to sit & visit Santa for no cost, but pictures are not allowed to be taken. Again thanks for your interest in Downtown Apex. We hope you have a most enjoyable experience and a Merry Christmas!! Please help us support the Western Wake Crisis Ministries by bringing some non-perishable food to the large containers at the "Depot" anytime during these events. |
